Aries New Moon: goals into action

What are your short term goals for the next month? Do you have any stretch goals? This is the best New Moon to set intentions and immediately carry those goals into action.

Chiron, the wounded healer, Mercury, who governs the mind, the Sun, and the Moon are all in go-getter Aries. The Aries New Moon (3/31 at 11:27pm Pacific) is the first New Moon after the Equinox and it is the New Moon to which Easter is tied. No matter which hemisphere is yours, there is a strong sense of change, release, and looking to the future. All of the planets are direct through the end of April. That brings a lot of forward momentum to our actions, and it means it’s a great time to set goals.

To channel the fiery Aries energy, look to its ruling planet, Mars, currently in Aquarius, bringing independence to the passion and action. This bring to mind the Fundamental Agreement from Rogue Brewery:

  • The way ahead is clear.
  • Be honest about the battlefield.
  • Throw out the old rules that don’t make sense.
  • Get out of the comfort zone.
  • Go to the front of the fight and stay there.
  • And most important, cut out all the B.S.

  • There’s a whole long story that goes with this that I should write about sometime in more detail. Apart from that, though, this is a credo that can help you surf the current energies with aplomb.

In looking at the distribution of how the planets are clustered for the New Moon, I notice that most of the sky is clustered in Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries.

  • Aquarius is altruistic, progressive and unconventional, opportunistic. To quote Dana Gerhardt, “It steals from the field of possibilities, rearranges the old laws, and shifts the current paradigm.”
  • Pisces is trance space, dream time, synthesis. As the last sign in the cycle of the Zodiac, it holds all of the potential of Divinity; the questions is merely if we can allow ourselves to access that much power. To do so will require releasing the illusion of separation.
  • I have said a fair amount about Aries already. Mercury in Aries has a quick, agile mind that tends to talk more than it listens. When Chiron is in Aries there is a powerful urge for freedom and self-expression, to be on the move, and to open up to new ideas.

  • When we combine those energies together, the muse is loud, and we need to connect to it, and to run with whatever inspiration occurs.

In looking at where the planets are not, there are also interesting patterns. This will shift slightly for each individual, based on their own chart, but the overall energy that we all share looks something like this:

  • Fast communication of high-level ideas
  • Borrowed structure or framework
  • Not a lot of intimate sharing
  • Doing and inspiration, as opposed to deep thought

  • So dream big and loud. Don’t worry too much about not getting included and stay in your own lane. Set concrete goals, because you have to be clear in order to be clear with the Universe. And put those goals into action, understanding that the next indicated actions will come one after the other in rapid-fire fashion.
