Unconditional Love. Every human seeks it, consciously or unconsciously. It is our driving force. It’s why people want to become rock stars. Some people misinterpret their drive as seeking power, but they’re looking for Love.
It is such an intrinsic part of the human condition that when we don’t feel love, we act out. Attention becomes what we will settle for. Power becomes what we will settle for. Money becomes what we will settle for.
But what we are looking for is unconditional love, a sense of connection, a sense of belonging.
In that search, we pick up all kinds of things to try to make up for what we feel is missing, not realizing that we are putting up a block between Unconditional Love and ourselves. We get more and more frustrated. We try harder and harder to find relief and end up putting more and more things between Unconditional Love and ourselves. Our sense of powerlessness mounts. We lash out.
It boils down to this:
By looking for love, happiness, joy, validation from outside of ourselves, we give our power away. Those things will always be conditional. Those things will always be out of our control, no matter how much worldly power we have.
Unconditional Love is the default, essential state of everything in the Universe. In order to connect with it, we have to remove all of the goo we have put between it and ourselves – anger, hate, bitterness, obsession – anything that is not Unconditional Love. There are any number of techniques that facilitate this process, and we have to initiate any of them. No one can do it for us.
And then we open our awareness to receive and emit Unconditional Love. Simple. But not easy.
When we do that, the ego no longer acts out like a starving baby.
Because Unconditional Love is limitless, once we are connected, it becomes easy to share the energy. Logical even. The more we share it, the more loving our world becomes.
And we shift.
