How Clearing Bowls Came to Be

In 2008 or 9, I was having trouble with carrying around energy I’d picked up from clients. As an empath, it is something I have to be very conscious of. I used to process things for others, but that’s not fair to them – they need to have their experience – and it’s certainly not fair to me. Spirit said to run my fingers through a bowl of salt after each reading or healing. I did, and it helped.

I have always been challenged with grounding. My tendency, like so many of us, is to go play in the astral. Not being fully in my body presents some distinct problems: aside from not being able to process information well and digestive issues, I was pretty accident prone. So I threw some hematite chips in the bowl of salt, and that helped with the grounding.

It didn’t take long for Spirit to nudge me and suggest I put some other stones in there as well.

This was the result:

Because I was using this after each client, I also started taking it with me to classes, and my students started playing with it. Because it’s based in salt, it’s self-clearing, so there was no problem with that (as long as they had dry hands). Pretty soon, they started asking me to make them custom bowls. Each one was unique, with the stones telling me who wanted to go where, and then I would figure out what the bowl actually did, based on its contents. A few holiday boutiques and stores started requesting them, so I ended up making some that I didn’t even know who they were for. There were even smaller, more portable ones, with lids.

The demand for them ebbs and flows. Every once in a while I get a been in my bonnet and buy a bunch of interesting bowls. Sometimes the order come in after that, sometimes they don’t.

In May, I acquired a sizable stock, and haven’t gotten many orders, so I’m offering a special, available only to those who read my blog. Order a custom bowl by September 19th, and get 20% off. As you can see from my clearing bowls page, custom bowls usually run $65-$100, depending on the size and what’s in it. Shipping is not included, but if you’re in Southern California, we can try to arrange an hand off around town. I’ll need to know what size space you have to put it in; if you live in a shoebox, one of the really big ones will be way too cumbersome. There are some really fun containers in my current stock, including a covered box that looks like a book, so I’m looking forward to playing with rocks…

I’ll leave you with one last photo

She spends a lot of time in the water off Maui, and has an affinity for sea turtles.
